Tree-planting exercise promotes environmental sustainability, climate resilience, and healthy living.
Ayobo-Ipaja LCDA held its annual Tree Planting Exercise Themed ‘ Tree for Lagos’ today, 2nd of October 2025 at the LCDA’s Area office Baruwa. The Chairman of LCDA, Hon. Agbaje Lukman Abiodun, who was represented by the Vice Chairman, Otunba Ladi Oluwaloni (OLO 1), reflects the Council’s commitment to combating climate change, beautifying the environment, and fostering a culture of environmental responsibility among residents.
Speaking during the exercise, Otunba Oluwaloni emphasized the importance of tree planting as a vital measure to reduce environmental hazards, improve air quality, and preserve the ecosystem for future generations.
In the same vein, the Leader of the House, Hon. Faruq Adebayo added that tree planting is not just about greening our communities; it is about protecting lives, preventing erosion, reducing pollution, and leaving behind a healthier environment.
The CDC Chairman, Elder Olokede further called on residents, community leaders, and stakeholders to support in nurturing the trees planted in their various environment to maturity, stressing that the real impact lies in sustaining the trees planted today.
Other dignitaries present at the event, including political chieftains, traditinal leaders,council officials, environmental expert, also highlighted the numerous benefits of afforestation, ranging from economic opportunities to improved public health.
Tree planting exercise serves as a public sensitization on climate-friendly practices. The long-term vision is to transform Ayobo-Ipaja LCDA into a greener, cleaner, and healthier community.
