The Executive Chairman of Ayobo-Ipaja Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Dr. Lukman Agbaje, has commended residents for their impressive compliance with the reintroduced monthly environmental sanitation exercise held across the LCDA.
The exercise, which aligns with the directive of the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, recorded active participation across communities, reflecting increased awareness and commitment to environmental cleanliness.
Speaking during a monitoring tour, Dr. Agbaje expressed satisfaction with the level of adherence observed, noting that the exercise has significantly contributed to improved environmental conditions within Ayobo-Ipaja.
He commended residents, Community Development Associations (CDAs), and market leaders who came out in large numbers to clean their surroundings, emphasizing that a clean environment is everyone’s responsibility.
The Chairman also appreciated the efforts of key stakeholders, including the Department of Environment, the Lagos Waste Management Authority team, the Nigeria Police Force, Kick Against Indiscipline officers, Man O’ War Nigeria, Lagos Neighborhood Safety Corps, members of the press, and other stakeholders for their dedication and support towards the success of the exercise.
Dr. Agbaje further urged all landlords, residents, and business owners to sustain the culture of cleanliness and desist from indiscriminate dumping of refuse, particularly in gutters and road medians. He also encouraged the continued use of Private Sector Participation (PSP) waste operators for proper waste disposal.
He reiterated that the environmental sanitation exercise is held every last Saturday of the month between 6:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m, stressing the importance of consistent participation.
Other top officials present during the exercise included the Vice Chairman, Otunba Ladi Oluwaloni; the Leader of the Legislative Arm, Hon. Bamidele Farooq; the Secretary to the Local Government, Prince Ahmad Yusuf; and the Council Manager, Mrs. Bankole-Bawa Funmibi, among other members of the Executive and management team.
